Almost - by Linz

History was almost made this Valentine's day. I almost received my first ever Valentine's day gift. Well, technically I guess I did, but it didn't arrive until Tuesday. We have never celebrated Valentine's day so I was quite surprised on Sunday night when Brad said, "So do want me to tell you what I got you for Valentine's Day or do you want to wait until it gets here on Tuesday?" Of course I wanted to know right away...patience is not my strong suit! I was pretty excited to find out that the 50mm lens I had been wanting for quite a while would be mine in just two short days. Brad confessed that most of the reason he bought it for me was so we would have some new pictures for the blog. So, in order not to disappoint....

Cattails & Crazy - by Brad

On Saturday, Lindsey went shopping with her sister and left us boys to entertain ourselves. First, we headed off to the nature preserve to get outside and walk around. I am not sure that picking cattails and sword fighting with them until they puff constitutes proper nature preserve etiquette, but we had fun. A word of warning... you cannot simply dust cattail seeds off of your clothes. It requires duct tape or a lint roller.

Here, we enjoyed a little nature... a red-winged blackbird in the cattails (that were picked and used as weapons)...

We came back home, enjoyed left-over pizza, and the boys piled up couch pillows and blankets for some acrobatics...

Another Product Review - by Brad

Since we don't have anything better to blog about...

Lindsey found some coupons for a few card games that are based on classic board games. I was a little skeptical that they would really live up to their board game versions, but I am now hooked on Monopoly Deal. It really is a 15 minute version of Monopoly. Even though my win-loss ratio is roughly 2-5 so far, I still enjoy it. If you ever enjoyed playing Monopoly, but you don't want to commit 2 hours, then this card game is great!

One of the best parts (in my opinion) is that the rules are written well enough that you don't have to make up filler rules. One of my pet peeves is when you buy a game and the instructions are not comprehensive. With Monopoly Deal, you may have to read the rules a few times, but they seems to leave no stone unturned.

Filling in with Chips - by Brad

I wasn't so sure about these chips. I had passed them up before because I didn't think I could handle eating mixed chips. I told Lindsey my tendency would be to separate the two flavors and eat them independently. Last night, Lindsey found some of these real cheap at grocery outlet (probably because they are discontinuing this strange product line... that's speculation, not a fact). So we tried them last night and they are surprisingly good. The zesty taco actually tastes like chili cheese fritos, so the ranch flavored chips complement them quite well. Maybe they aren't my new favorite chips, but they were definitely edible.
