The Story of the Key - by Linz

Wesley did a creative writing project this morning at preschool. His teacher said he really enjoyed it and of all the kids in his class, he was the only one who didn't need prompting to keep the story going.

The italicized part is what the teacher used a lead-in to get the story going, but the rest are Wesley's own words.

The Story of the Key
by Wesley Posenjak

One day I was walking down the street when my foot kicked something shiny. I looked down and saw a key. I picked it up and looked around. There was only one door on the street and the key was a perfect match. I put the key in the door... and it opened the door. I went upstairs and I heard somebody snacking on some nuts. And then I opened the door and saw Batman snacking on the nuts. And then I watched TV. And then I peeked out the window and saw a dragon. The dragon broke the window. And then it blew fire at me. I hit it with a baseball bat. And then I opened another door with my key. Then Batman took the key and he opened his own door. I got my key back when I whapped Batman with another bat. This Batman was snacking on nuts. The dragon blew fire on me again and then it died.

The End

I don't know why, but the fact that Batman keeps taking breaks from the action to be snacking on some nuts just tickles me to no end! I just keep picturing George Clooney or Val Kilmer stopping mid-movie and reaching into a can of Planters. That kid cracks me up!
