When Mom's Away... - by Brad

Lindsey is gone this weekend at our church's annual women's retreat. On Friday I fearlessly took all three boys into Sears, Radio Shack, and Safeway... all-in-all it wasn't too bad. We BBQ'd hot dogs for dinner and had ice cream for desert. This morning around 8:30 I decided to take them on a hike, so we drove up past Leavenworth to the Wenatchee River (pictures below). When I got home, there was a call from my Mom inviting us over for dinner. I thought about declining... just so Lindsey wouldn't think I ran to my parents for help. Hey, they invited me, I didn't invite myself over.

Here is the hiking excursion...

Elliott and Wes posing for me by the bridge...

Hey, they really can act as if they like each other...

"Um, dad... where's mom?..."

Ten seconds before this picture I said, "Hey boys, mom would really freak out if she saw you looking over the edge at the rapids below. Why don't you go ahead and do that so I can get a picture of it!"

On the trail...

Taking in some nature...

There was a little excitement when Elliott started dancing around saying that something just bit him on the neck and was crawling down his shirt. I laughed and assumed it was the tag on his shirt, but after a few seconds of searching down his back, I lifted up his shirt and found a little green caterpillar crawling at the top of his shorts. Apparently it has dropped down from a tree and fell right down the back of his shirt. I had a good laugh... and Elliott can laugh about it now that it's over.

This is proof that I fed my kids. And yes, those ARE homemade sandwiches, NOT Subway!

Of course, as long as there is a river and some rocks, our boys will throw the rocks in the river...

Okay, this really has nothing to do with this post, but I found it in the photo album from a couple months ago. Spencer just got out of the bath and I wrapped a towel around him. He was allowed to walk around the house in just a towel... until he took the towel off. Although this did happen on my watch, it didn't happen tonight... even though they were bathed this evening...

Way to go Brad! I know for me when I have my girls to myself all weekend it's always a challenge to juggle the time, entertainment, bathing and feeding of all three kids! Definately not for the weak of heart is it? Great post.

I forgot to comment when I first read this...great job, Daddy Brad! Planning excursions is always the way to go, and you guys are great at it. The boys are too, too cute with their dangerous views and fakesy hugs. What a cool place you went too. Hope Lindsay was refreshed and rejuvenated!
