U-Turn - by Linz

Thursday morning got off to a rough start in the Posenjak household. Spencer, once again, colored on the walls, smeared toothpaste all over the table, used my toothbrush, emptied out some cupboards, etc.* These are pretty common activities for Spencer, so I spend most of my day disciplining and cleaning up behind him. It's not the most fun I have ever had. Actually, this particular incident ended in tears for Spencer and me! I was feeling overwhelmed because it is Elliott's spring break, so I had envisioned tons of fun being had by all. But instead it was the same old (annoying) thing.

Shortly after the morning fiasco, I talked to Brad on the phone. He made the mistake of asking how my morning was going...oh dear. But being the sweet husband that he is, he reassured me and then when he came home for lunch, informed me that he wasn't going back to work for the afternoon. Instead, we were going to plan a fun afternoon. That is the absolute best thing that could have happened that day.

We started the fun by making some clay sculptures. Then we headed to the bowling alley. This is the ultimate exciting thing for my boys. But as it turns out, real bowling is significantly more difficult than Wii bowling...as reflected by the scores!

After bowling we went to the park for a while. We finished off with dinner at Red Robin and ice cream! It was a great ending to what was shaping up to be a pretty horrible day! All thanks to Bradley!

...I feel like I need to mention that while this was a great distraction it did not curb Spencer's bad behavior. He colored on the walls again this morning. Sigh... *

*I know, I know...why does he keep getting ahold of the pens and pencils? Because he can climb on anything, so nothing is out of his reach, he is stealthy...and also, because I just can't be there every second...and also maybe he got away with more than his brothers when he was younger and we are paying for it now!

I feel like I need to post a disclaimer about those scores...

THE BOYS HAD BUMPERS AND I DIDN'T!

Brad - are you saying you had a few gutter balls? and good job being a dad.

Linz - you're a remarkable mom, even though-I'm sure-days like that are tiring.

I did have one gutter ball... the first throw of the first frame. But I followed it up by knocking down all ten pins for a spare.

Oh, Lindsey, I so understand! We've had a rough week around here, and the kids are not the only ones who have shed some tears. The only difference is, I FEEL like kicking, screaming and hitting the walls with a baseball bat, and "someone" else really does that. (Not Trent.) And I only have one toddler/preschooler! Whew. You are both great parents, and good spouses to look after each other!

...oh yeah, you are a great mom Lindsey (I would have said that sooner, but I was distracted by the bowling scores). Thanks for the kind words!

Wow, Lindsey, I am glad your day turned around. However Red Robin can do that for you. :) Anyway, I am glad that brother of mine made your day a bit brighter. As far as Spencer's behavior, what can you say about those youngest children!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Gail, I guess all you can say about youngest children is that they turn out great in spite of it all! ;-)
