Last night we celebrated Spencer turning 2. His birthday was actually on the 21st, but since we were in Portland, we delayed his official party (there was a small celebration with the Bunches... although Mike and I were skiing at the time).
Anyway, here are a couple pictures of Spencer on his big day. Spencer loves guitars and calls them "guitar player".
His favorite thing to do with my guitar is to try to tune it. So he had to test out the tuners on this one.
Mostly, this post was to show off the guitar cake. We spent a few hours working on it... you can tell we are not professional cakers, but we were pleased. This was roughly modeled after the Gibson SG...
Spencer was soaking up the excitement of his birthday party and even leading the singing...

Great cake, guys. Spencer looked really happy. I am glad you had a nice little party. Happy Late Birthday Spencer.
Spencer sure knew he was the "star" of the party - we loved the way he ran to greet and hug us at the door - quite the host!! It was great fun!
So after his funfetti cake I made him..with the letter n missing from his name (good catch Lindsey)...I'm sure it was hard to top, but I'd say you did a pretty good job with that guitar cake. Seriously...that cake is amazing...you guys should go professional. What did you use for the strings?
Uh, Lindsey, you put us all to shame with your cake-decorating skills. On another note, I can't believe Spencer is 2! He's gotten so big!
Becky, this actually is a funfetti cake! He picked out the one with "prinkles" at the store. So your cake did make an impression on him!
Steph, I would like to take credit for the cake, but it was a team effort...okay, mostly I think it up and Brad makes it happen. But I made the fondant!
Amazing cake. I still remember Ethan's first birthday when Becky informed me I had to make him a cake from scratch. You get the credit for putting this in her head. I look forward to your cake posts. It is a lot of fun to do I will admit. That guitar cake is quite professional looking. Seriously! Happy Birthday Spencer!
I'm sorry it took me this long to comment, but that cake is amazing! The fondant is very impressive, as is getting RED fondant. I think that is one of the hardest frosting colors. Great job, guys, and happy b-day Spencer!
What a cake that must have been to make, you guys did a great job! I won't show my kids so they don't get any crazy ideas that I could even try to make a great cake like that. Hope you guys are doing well say happy b-day to Spencer from Dylan and Nathan, it's crazy he's 2 already.Hope all is well love bryan allison and boys.
