First Day of School - by Linz

Well, I am not sure how it happened so fast, but today was Elliott's first day of school. I think I said something similar to this about pre-school, but this is real, all day kindergarten!Elliott has been so excited to start school. As I was tucking him into bed last night he said, "In the morning I'm going to say, wake up, wake up, it's my first day of school." That didn't happen because I was up before he was, but at about 7:15 he asked if I would take him to school...it doesn't start until 8:15 so he spent the rest of the morning looking through his backpack and waiting anxiously. When we got to the school there were about a hundred kids waiting in lines by their classroom doors. I looked and Elliott and his eyes got wide and almost concerned and he said, "what are we supposed to do now." We walked to his class line and waited for the teacher. He got right in line, said hello to the boy next to him and waved good-bye to me. I was so proud of his confidence and excitement about school. I on the other hand, didn't fare so well. As I turned around to leave, the tears came. I just can't believe that I am at the point in life where my son goes to school all day. I really missed him. But he told me that he had a good day and even though he was nervous at the first recess, he liked the second one! He is excited to go back tomorrow, so that is a good sign!

Well I have teared up as I read about Elliott going to school. At lunch today (Friday here-Thursday there), I was thinking about Elliott and figured he was probably starting school soon. I can't believe he is old enough to go to school. I hope he continues to enjoy school - every kid should.

Yup- I'm tearing up too. I just know he's the nicest, sweetest, cutest kid in the whole school. Glad he had a good one and glad you made it through. :)

Good job, Elliot! Wow, I remember seeing his picture you e-mailed to me when he was born, and being so proud of a little boy I don't know. I'm glad he had a good day, and I have to stop thinking about it because I'm going to cry for Elliot and Caleb (who's only 3 1/2) too! He seems like the sweetest boy, and I know you and Brad are so proud of him. Good job, guys! :)
