Petrified - by Brad

We decided to get out of the house on Saturday and do something the boys might enjoy. So we headed out to the Ginkgo Petrified Forest in Vantage. If you've never been to the hiking area there, it is just barren hills with some partially dug up petrified trees displayed under metal grates... the forest was buried under lava flows. To keep Elliott interested and an active participant, I told him to watch out for "metal cages", For some reason this was more interesting to a 5 year old than trying to find petrified trees.

Us boys sitting on a petrified log at the museum...

On our way home, we decided to stop at the Wild Horses monument. We have seen it many times driving by on I-90, but this time we decided to stop and hike up to it. It was getting stormy, but despite better judgement (my wife), we decided to make the steep hike anyway. We stayed just long enough to get a picture of us squinting from the wind and dust...

Hey! you've been shorn! Looks good. I'll bet it feels strange. Can't wait to see you guys in a few weeks! The boys are growing up too fast (yours and mine!)

Great pictures! I've never been up by those horses - very cool.
With the weather the way it has been lately, you're just lucky you didn't get SNOWED on!!
