Labels! - by Brad

I updated the Bjournal to the new blogger format so that it should load quicker than it used to (except that I posted a bunch of useless videos which are slowing it down). I did lose my weather widget because it is not supported on the new blogger format, but I am working on that. I also decided to utilize Blogger's labeling feature, so you will now notice labels at the end of each post as well as a way to filter for them on the sidebar.

On an entirely different subject... I was noticing that a lot of news websites are littered with "The Year in Review" type articles. To me, that just seems like an excuse to write an easy article. I know it's the end of the year and all, but that's almost as bad as when a TV series decides to do an entire episode of flashbacks instead of having to write a new show.

I think this post will probably get the label of "P-Jak Ramblings."

Commercial Jingles from My Childhood - by Brad

A couple days ago an old Velveeta cheese song popped into my head. It is strange because I don't think I have had Velveeta cheese in 10 years. Anyway, it spurred me on to finding a few other Commercial Jingles from My Childhood...

When We All Get to Heaven... - by Brad

...I hope that God hands out omniscient statistical calculators. There are so many facts and statistics I wonder about that are impossible to know here on Earth. Such as...

How many keyboard keystrokes did I type over the duration of my life?

What was the exact percentage of my life I spent sleeping? Then I'd
compare that to the sleep-to-wake ratios of other people (such as the President, Albert Einstein, my wife, etc.).

How many times did I utter the word "um" during my life. How many
words did I speak? How many words did I read? What was my
words-spoken-to-words-read ratio?

Exactly how many stars are out there?

However, I am encouraged to know that when I get to heaven, I will have better and more amazing things to concern myself with than random statistics!

Snowfall #2 - by Brad

Just as the last of the snow was melting from a couple weeks ago, we received our second installation of snow Tuesday morning. It was about 4 inches of the thick wet snow that's perfect for playing in. While I was at work, all I could think about was playing in the snow with my boys and building a snowman with them. The busyness had finally slowed down at work, so I decided to take the afternoon off.

Of course, Elliott loved the snow (as mentioned in an earlier post). He dove right in, and rolled around. He started throwing snow, so of course, I would throw back. I am constantly noticing small signs that he is getting older and I noticed one during our snowball fight. Now, if I accidentally hit him in the eye with a snowball, causing ice to go down his shirt, he doesn't freeze up and cry. Rather, he laughs, shrugs it off, and says that he is going to get me back.

To my surprise Wesley even enjoyed playing in the snow. After a little coaxing, he was running around along side his brother, throwing snow at me. Although most of his time was spent eating the snow, it was good to see him out there with a smile on his face!

Finally, the work product I envisioned came to fruition. We built an 8 foot snowman - including the top hat. I have to admit that I required Lindsey's help lifting the midsection... of course, since I am a man, I have to say that it was NOT because it was too heavy, but because the size made it awkward to lift.

Elliott's First Christmas Program - by Brad

Elliott had his first Christmas program this week. His pre-school class sang a few songs and had a little nativity play. I forgot to change the batteries in our camera before we went, so I didn't get nearly as much footage as I hoped. I managed to get video of most of the nativity play. Elliott is a wise man dressed in purple on the far left. I added the words so you can read what they are saying...

Wintery Stuff (even though it's still fall) - by Brad

I feel that I have not been blogging much lately. On top of that, I haven't felt very creative. Things have been getting busy at work, and busy at home as we are entering the holiday season. Thankfully, I have been able to find time to play with my kids and catch a glimpse of my wife every once-in-a-while.

Last weekend we received about 7 inches of snow. Elliott loved it. Wesley, not so much.

Elliott was a trooper outside while I shoveled our driveway. He decided that he wanted me to bury him in one of the snow piles I was making.

We also went out last weekend and got our Christmas tree. We make sure to take advantage of our tall living room ceiling by getting an 11 foot tree each year. Wesley had fun climbing up and down the ladder. Elliott, not so much.

Elliott did like wearing the Santa hat. Lindsey snapped this cute picture...

Boogies - by Linz

Here are some funny things that Wesley has said regarding...well, boogies. It's a disgusting topic that comes up far more frequently than it should!

WES: Mom, where should I put this?
MOM: Just a minute and I will get you a tissue.
WES: Oh, it's okay. I put it back.
MOM: Put it back where?
WES: In my nose!

WES: Now they are all in my throat.
MOM: That's disgusting
WES: Hee, I think it's funny!

Elliott had just drawn a picture of a house...
AUNT JULIE: Elliott, that kind of looks like a hut.
WES: Jabba the Hutt!
WES: Jabba the Hutt's from Star Wars. Jabba the Hutt is made of boooogers!
