Not a Religion? - by Brad

Religion: 1. beliefs and worship. people’s beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life

Religious: 1. relating to religion. relating to belief in religion, the teaching of religion, or following the practices of a religion

[definitions from Encarta Dictionary]

So, is Christianity a religion? Yes.

Am I religious? Absolutely!

I often see t-shirts or hear anti-religion statements going hand-in-hand with promoting Christianity. I am not trying to put down anyone who uses the "non-religion" method to evangelize, but I guess I think of the terms different than most people.

I understand what they are getting at since they (and the world) often view these terms as meaning mindless ritualistic ceremony. For example, I might say that a friend of mine uses Q-tips religiously. Certainly, Christianity should not meet this definition of the word. However, it seems to me that denouncing Christianity as a religion all together seems ignorant.

That's my opinion... but I may not stick to it.
