Dear Diary - by Brad

July 3rd – We had my parents and my sister’s family over for a pre-4th-of-July barbeque. My nephews and nieces wore out Elliott and Wesley so much that evening, they both slept past 8:00 AM the next morning. This might have been the first time they BOTH slept past 8:00! It was great.

July 4th – We all went to Ohme Gardens here in Wenatchee. It was extremely hot. We then went to Lincoln Rock State Park to let the kids play in the river. Later that night, there were many small fireworks at home and then we took the boys to watch the big fireworks. Wesley slept through them while Elliott, Jake, and Ryan were in awe. On the walk back to the car, we had to speed up to avoid a small gang fight. It was rather nerve-racking.

July 5th – Work. Started feeling sick at night, fell asleep at 8:30.

July 6th – Sick – stayed home from work. Lindsey took the boys to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seatlle. [this picture really is at the zoo]

July 7th – Work. Still sick. SHOULD HAVE stayed home. Bad fever.

July 8th – Still sick. What a waste of a Saturday.

July 9th – Finally better! Went to church. The youth group came over for a hike up Castle Rock. It was very hot and a few people got dizzy and almost sick… yee-haa. Everyone made it back and we had a lot of fruit, pizza, and foosball (we didn't eat the foosball). After everyone left, I gently mowed our sad, sad looking grass.

[Sod update] A few weeks ago, the irrigation main broke down the street from us, causing our irrigation water to be shut off for almost two weeks. Our water is back on, but we now have dalmation grass. So sad.

Those kids look like they're on a death march.

Yeah, they probably felt like it too. It was in the upper 90's and I think it was steeper than they expected.

Brad, sorry to hear you were sick! We actually came home early from the mountains and would have liked to meet the kids at the zoo - was it a super long day trip?? Let us know if you want to stay over sometime.

The zoo trip was very last minute. A friend of mine had the week off and wanted to take her two kids, so I went along. It was actually a great trip. I did think about calling you guys, but figured you would still be camping. Why did you come home early?
